I am thankful for Music.... it isn't just being able to play the piano, but, just the peace and enjoyment that comes from music. I grew up hearing my Dad sing for everyone's wedding and funeral, and my Mom accompanying him. My Mom always sang with the "Singing Mothers" wearing their white blouses and black skirts. We would often stand around the piano and sing together as a family. To this day, that is one of my favorite things to do, or get out the Karaoke microphone and bring on the smiles. I remember our little family (me, just a young girl) singing "Once Within A Lowly Stable" as a special number in Church for Christmas, and also me and my sisters singing "So This Is Love" & "A Bushel and a Peck" at an Aunt's wedding reception. In 6th grade I started playing in the band... the trumpet, just like my Dad had, and played with the band through my Junior year in High School. Music has just always been a part of my life. My children have loved music, violin's, drums, piano and choir. It has been such a joy to watch and listen to them excel with their love of music. There is an ongoing joke of me and my sister... that whatever you might say, we just might have a song that goes with it. It has become a tradition at our annual Labor Day camp out to make up a song that includes the happenings of the weekend. Singing and music just make me smile!
